Helpless without public transport

I TRIED going to Sabindo from the Lido Market area.

Not a single bus goes there.

What are old people supposed to do when they cannot drive anymore?

School children? Daily paid workers? Labourers? Servants?

Lower rank govt servants?

Depend on their children? On the government?

Only then did I realise how difficult it was for people who wanted to go somewhere near but did not have their own transport.

If someone wants to go to Papar area from Dong-gongan, they have to wait hours in the hot sun to get a bus to KK and then take another exorbitant bus ride to Kinarut and Papar.

This is the proverbial going round the head to touch your own nose.

Recently the state govt announced that there would be a new bus service for the KK town area.

It's high time that this is translated into fact.

Likewise it's high time our beloved state initiated a good bus service for the surrounding areas, like Penampang, Likas, Kepayan, Tanjung Aru and other suburbs.

The people of KK live in the suburbs.

We the local people need efficient bus services more than KK tourists who need to walk from their hotels to the shopping centres and pubs.
